PROBLEM SOLVING CLASSES
Our classes provide hands-on training, socialization opportunities and are a lot of fun for both dogs and dog owners!
WALK THIS WAY! LOOSE LEASH WALKING CLINIC
Does your energetic and enthusiastic dog almost pull your shoulder out of joint when he sees another person or dog? Do you have an athletic dog that yanks you towards the nearest tree to chase a squirrel, forgetting that you’re on the other end of the leash? Walking on a loose leash with distractions is challenging, so we’ve created this four week class to help. Each class will focus on skills to reducing pulling and increase self-control. Your dog will learn to check in and keep his focus on you. Completion of a beginning level class is required for enrollment. The class fee is $95.00.
CLICKER TRAINING FOR GOOD MANNERS
In this fun six week class, you’ll be using marker-based training to build attention, teach good manners, and solve problems such as jumping on visitors, bolting out doors, begging for food, and pulling on leash. Handlers will learn how to mark and shape their dogs’ responses, and reinforce the skills that lead to polite behavior. Research supports marker-based learning as being the most effective way for animals to learn, and the relationship that develops between handler and dog while training is the icing on the cake! The cost is $145.
Join us for our version of canine charm school! We’ll explore methods to resolve jumping up, overly exuberant greetings to strangers, pulling on leash, running away, and other unruly behaviors. This focused class is for excited and energetic dogs, but not dogs with aggression problems. Doggy Etiquette lasts for six weeks, and the fee is $145.
THERAPY DOG TRAINING AND PREP CLASS
Are you interested in sharing your special pup with those who are lonely or ill? Maybe you would enjoy having children read to your dog, cheering up sick patients in the hospital, or visiting residents at a nursing home. There is a huge need for registered therapy dogs in a wide variety of venues! This class will help you and your dog prepare to do therapy work. Teams will train for specific behaviors that are on the therapy test and will practice and role play situations likely encountered on actual visits. This class is six weeks long and the fee is $145. Information and details on being tested will be provided at the end of the class, however the test is not included in the class.
Please note: this class is designed to help teams prepare for the therapy test and therapy work. It is NOT a requirement before testing.
